Amazon has lowered the price of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 from 269 EUR to 229 EUR. The occasion is the launch of the new Kindle Fire-generation. The successor Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is priced at 379 euros.

The new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels display resolution appears at 19 Novembe r (we reported). Reason enough for Amazon to clear old stock. The predecessor Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is a 1,920 × 1,200 display , which also measures 8.9 inches. For the performance 1.5 GHz Dual Core processor which is sufficient for surfing, reading and simple games for all makes. The currently most powerful components for smartphones and tablets – - but the HDX 8.9 with its Snapdragon processor and the Adreno 800 graphics chip 330 for demanding apps and especially games suitable. This also costs 150 euros more.
Another decision is more difficult: The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 costs as much as the new Kindle Fire HDX with seven-inch Full HD display. And the HDX has the Snapdragon 800 and the Adreno 330 on a brand-new equipment. If the screen size is not critical, no doubt the small Kindle Fire HDX would be preferable to the old Fire HD 8.9. Then there are still the competition in the form of Nexus 7 (see test).
