Waterstones lose the desire to Kindle?

Waterstones reported a diminishing sales of Kindle sales and a higher demand for printed books.

According to “Financial Times” (FT) reported Englands largest book chain Waterstone’s a drastic slump in sales when selling the Kindle. CEO James Daunt admitted to the newspaper that the demand for Amazon’s e-reader are almost “disappeared” December 2014.

A similar trend was confirmed by the FT also Douglas McCabe from the UK media market researcher Enders Analysis. The former boom of e-books was over, he said – there were already the first signs of a turnaround. The experience of Waterstones fit: Daunt According to the interest of the reader to the printed word grows straight again; in the final weeks of last year we went for Print Books at Waterstones five percent up. Whether it is for the chain store, and the general trend that emerges just in the US and the UK (see archive: printed book s slight decline and Rising sales of print books)? Hang On.

Still in 2012 Waterstones decided to sell its e-reader into the branches and saw the cooperation with Amazon as a “solution to the digital question” to accommodate the growing e-book market.
