 Amazon Kindle: Declining sales

How England’s largest bookstore chain Waterstones reported that Kindle sales have collapsed completely in December. While the sale of bound books has risen by a whopping five percent, the sales of Amazon’s Kindle would be “broadly disappeared.”

It currently looks not good for Amazon Kindle EBook Reader and associated EBook sales. The largest English bookseller Waterstones, the 2012 is entered into a partnership with Amazon to sell Kindle reader in its stores, attracting a devastating balance for December 2014. According to James Daunt, CEO of Waterstones, the Kindle sales have slumped dramatically, the sales figures “disappeared on the whole.” During the same period, however, the sales of bound books have increased by five per cent – a stark contrast that could indicate a U-turn in the EBook-trend

Kindle? EBooks at the end


Amazon has released the first generation of its EBook Reader Kindle in 2007. Sales peaked with 13.4 million copies sold in 2011. 2012 sales fell to 9.7 million units already. Current estimates suggest that Amazon has sold approximately 30 million Kindles to this day. Where current expert opinion so far was that EBooks traditional printed books will replace most of the medium, the figures speak now published another language: English have consumers in 2013 about 2.2 billion pounds (2.8 billion euros) for print issued books for EBooks only comparatively measly 300 million pounds (383 million euros) went over the table.
