Kindle Paperwhite remains reduced, Kindle is more expensive – ALLESebook.de

Christmas is over, the new year has begun and so has the aggressive price war in recent weeks largely come to an end. After Amazon’s fall in 2013 by the start of the Tolino Alliance and the then discounted Shine a little behind, it looked 2014 more the other way out.

US Shipping Company has reduced initially to 109 euros and then in time for Christmas (and the launch of the Tolino Vision 2!) to turn with a price point of 99 € the sign of the price of the Kindle Paperwhite of originally 129 EUR. Thus, the Paperwhite was again without a doubt one of the most sought after devices on the market, not least because it has reached “magical” 100 euro limit the while offering one of the best lighting.

At the recipe for success seems to Amazon current change anything. The eBook reader is still offered for 99 euros, the price will be communicated as a reduced price, making it officially, at least not to be understood as a recommended retail price. Thus, it remains open whether the shipping giant but not increase the selling price in the future.

No doubt there’s now the Kindle base model. The touch screen device without lighting that has come regularly for 59 euros on the market was just before Christmas around 10 euros cheaper and was available for the same price as the 49-euro legacy. This should, however, be of relatively short duration – the Kindle Touch 2 now costs the same amount as before the price action again. While it is still the cheapest entry-level model in the market, but the distance to Tolino Shine (incl. Light), which is still available for 77 euros at eBook.de so comparatively small.

look up Less gave it to the Kindle Voyage. The premium eReader has struggled since the start of problems with the uniformity of the backlight, which is reflected in combination with the relatively high price (90 euros, or about 90 percent more than the Paperwhite!) In probably only moderate sales. Since its launch in early November only 341 customer reviews have been written for the device on Amazon.de to this day. During the same period 1,100 Reviews have been submitted for the Paperwhite, which corresponds with respect to the Voyage, an increase of about 220 percent.

It is a quite remarkable difference , but probably not only due to the above problem (and the long term unfavorable supply situation) might have come into being, but also simply because of the price difference. In the past, has been often shown that dedicated readers sell primarily through a cheap price, so many prospective located because of the very good price-performance ratio of less than 16 months at the market, but still excellent Paperwhite, probably just for cheaper eReader have resorted.

For Amazon, the bill is likely to be in any case risen and it will be interesting how the competition react to a presumably permanent price lowered to 99 euros Kindle Paperwhite is.
