Kindle World: Amazon wants to sell fan fiction - Heise Newsticker

Amazon wants to sell future fan fiction and has taken the platform “Kindle World” presented. It will be offered from June e-books, whose action takes place in the fictional worlds known TV series, films or other original works. For this, the U.S. online retailer has an agreement with Alloy Entertainment (Warner Brothers) is closed and can offer texts that are based on the TV series Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries.

Image: Amazon Amazon claims to be negotiated with other right-holders for licenses. Then owners and authors will be involved in the e-book sales. Depending on the length of text, the authors receive either 20 or 35 percent of the sales price. In return, Amazon receives the exclusive worldwide publishing rights.

Amazon announced platform could make fan fiction known to the general public. Although the genre is not new, introduced because of copyright issues but so far a niche. The attitude of the author to literary fan fiction is divided: while some, like the creator of the Twilight series Stephenie Meyer, she welcomes and promotes fan pages rejects, George RR Martin (“A Song of Ice and Fire” as a template for “Game of Thrones”) it categorically.
