In silence to Amazon has in recent weeks, the display specialists Liquavista incorporated. The researched colleagues of eReaders.nl and has since been confirmed by Amazon. The former Samsung daughter Liquavista specializes in color e-paper panels, their use in Kindle devices is now probably only a matter of time.
rumors that Samsung will gladly part with Liquavista and negotiated with Amazon about a takeover, there was already the end of March. The Dutch company calls its e-paper technology “electrowetting”. The production is similar in many parts of the LCD panels (but of course without backlight), which Liquavista screens should be relatively inexpensive to manufacture. A technology demo from January 2013, according to the technique still suffers to some low contrast and dull colors, but the frame rate even allows playback of videos.

We’re just getting started, but we are excited about the possibilities and look forward to the development of the displays. ” Amazon is not the semi-finished snap shots known, and it seems currently still questionable whether even the next Kindle generation with color e-paper panel appears on board – instead, more on the resolution and maybe filed also on the diagonal. Within the next one to two years but it will certainly give serious changes to the e-paper front, and Amazon has a good chance to be on Liquavista with the front runners.
