Kindle Fire: Compal, Quanta jobs snaps away - Computer World

the Taiwanese industry portal DigiTimes, citing supply chain insiders, Quanta will increasingly focus on high-end devices with Qualcomm processors, while Compal 2014 more focused on entry-level devices with MediaTek solutions.

The amount of orders from Amazon could be seen in the last financial year. The U.S. giant became in 2013 the fifth largest tablet vendor with 5.45 million sold devices. This represents about four percent of the global market volume. Quanta, however, has its ambitious goals for 2013 can not reach. 20 million units were originally delivered, in the end, it was also because of weaker demand for Google Tablets only about 15 million copies.

Compal benefited einserseits with the huge demand for Apple’s new version of the iPad mini Retina display and the other hand on Amazon Order the Kindle Fire in the entry level segment. According to the DigiTimes report Compal should in future be responsible for 90 percent of Kindle-orders from Amazon, the remaining ten percent goes to Quanta. Experts expect that Quanta despite orders for the big iPads from Apple, the losses by the new supply chain management of Amazon until further notice can not be offset.

To despite the sub-optimal business location on the hot market to be able to continue to hold, Quanta is now trying aggressively to attract orders for phablets ashore. This new class of devices is already popular, especially in Asia, and thus on the rise. Compal is given the good order situation for 2014 assuming 14 million tablets – to settle – twice as much as last year.
