Kindle with Liquavista technology just around the corner? – ALLESebook.de

It’s been a while since, as we have heard the last of Liquavista. Reminder: It is to the Dutch company, which is for the development of electric wetting displays (Engl .: electrowetting) is responsible. Amazon in April 2013 took over the company of Samsung. Since then, it is speculated that the screen technology in future Kindle eReaders (and possibly Fire Tablets) is to be used.

The timing of the launch is but still in the stars, because as usual, Amazon makes no representations about its plans. Even technology demonstrations and other messages remained since the takeover virtually from -. So far

A few days ago Amazon has a video on YouTube released (at the end of Article), in which a portion of Liquavista teams even briefly imagines them and raves about how great their work for a company like Amazon is yet. Leaving aside the praise, the short film is content unfortunately her not too much. One sees no Liquavista displays or mysterious new equipment in action and the team also does not talk about specific products or the like

Yet one thing is quite interesting.: The date of publication.

Liquavista as own display brand

Amazon lost over the past 2 1/2 years approximately nothing about Liquavista. The only obvious indication of the membership of the company to the shipping giant was the (somewhat carelessly placed) Note “on Amazon Comany” under the Liquavista company logo (see below) on the official website of the Dutch display specialists.

Well, it turns Amazon shortly before the normal period (August to October) for the new generations of eReaders and tablets a video online, which is very clearly not only the companies belonging to the focus, but also Liquavista puts itself in the foreground

Even more:. Along with the video, the company logo, the Dutchman was also changed. Instead of the old reference can be seen at the end of the film, and now also on the Liquavista website a new logo. This was within the last 14 days – replaced (probably on August 7, at which the video went online the same day)

Old Liquavista logo and new Amazon Liquavista- Logo

Although these are of course no solid evidence that Amazon will introduce a eBook Reader with Liquavista screen shortly, but I go not believe that the timing of video publishing and the logo redesign was chosen at random. The word “Amazon Liquavista” also strongly looks after as if the shipping giant wants to call its own display brand to life for marketing purposes.

Liquavista as E-Ink competitor

Many eBook fans connect with Liquavista certainly the view of e-paper displays with possible color reproduction. The Dutch have already worked for Samsung working to develop a replacement for conventional LCD screens, which have a low power consumption, but at the same time have a sufficiently good color reproduction.

The tablet market but then got a huge boost and the potential power savings when the display was secondary. At the same time also the focus shifted in eBook readers more responsive to the reading application and the color reproduction no longer seemed as important as before.

The Elektronobenetzungstechnik but is by no means only for color displays, but also for monochrome screens, as they currently are used in eReaders with e-ink technology.

Liquavista offers the data sheet Compare this a couple interesting benefits, which have the potential to further improve the read operation and to move even closer to a printed paper page.

In particular, the higher reflectance of up to 60 percent with a maximum contrast ratio of 12: 1, the display moves closer to a printed paper page with 70 to 80 percent reflectance and a contrast ratio of 10: 1 to 15: is 1 not quite as far forward as compared to current E- Ink Carta technology (44 percent reflectivity, 15: 1 contrast ratio).

In other words, with Liquavista technology the wallpaper would be in similar black levels clear brighter than a currently available E-Ink display.

high-end eReader <"ArticleBody" span itemprop => About a year ago, on 18 September 2014 Amazon has announced new display technology?

Kindle Voyage, in particular with the extremely was able to score high-resolution 300 ppi display. This had no one else.

Along with the brightness sensor, the pressure-sensitive scroll keys and the magnesium housing sales price rose compared to Kindle Paperwhite but significantly. For 189 euros, the eBook Reader will be sold -. Price promotions were rare during the past 12 months

By now own the new Paperwhite 3, but also the competition in the form the Kobo Glo HD also a so-called “Retina” display. Both devices are, however, to have much cheaper, so one of the key selling points for the Voyage eliminated.

A new display technology come in quite handy to the positioning of the high-priced premium model will continue to be justified. Whether it will actually come so we may see already in the next 30 days

At the end there’s below even the mentioned initially Liquavista video.
