Basically nothing new. the overall rating of the mica light-free basic Kindle fell before the start of the current version on significantly more negative than that of the high-end models, the “gruesome” display is installed in this form since, 2014. After initially et al at Amazon pointed to an optical illusion, caused by the unfamiliar white housing edge, but were tacitly adjusted shortly after the product images (also in German Kindle Store). Particularly striking is the Reader Overview:. The “new” Kindle here appears significantly grayer than Paperwhite, Voyage and Oasis
Probably in response to the complaints has Amazon.com now explicitly under the product details on the technical differences for: “Planning on reading in low-light settings? Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage and Kindle Oasis offer a built in light (…) “. The mica light brightens yes indeed the background to, and providing better contrast. Interesting footnote: The images in the press were at least not yet adapted
