The Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing platform makes it easy each author, to publish his own work: free of charge and with a click. Only for the quality guarantees no. What that could mean for the future of publishing.
By far the most popular way to publish their own texts online is the online publishing platform Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Since 2011 allows the Amazon offer in Germany each author, easy to publish his E-book. Amateur authors inundate since the e-book bestseller lists at Amazon and often outdo the e-books of classical publishers. Few of them, however, have what it takes to succeed in the analog world.
pioneer of this trend was in Germany Jonas Winner. He wrote with his seven-volume “Berlin Gothic” series 2011 at the start of Kindle Direct Publishing in Europe, the first German KDP success story. More than 100,000 books he sold within ten months online before the series by the publisher Earthscan has been laid.
everything Clicking here
Winner saw his chance when Amazon KDP brought to the German market. He also did not want to wait any longer for the publication of his series. Online can often be a long production time of a printed work deal: with one click, everything is there. On top of that, the cost of publishing nil. Winner calculated, as do all e-publishers, and offered his first series of 99 cents per band.

literature as a cheap commodity – a principle which corresponds to the principle of effectiveness of market giant Amazon. Thus, a book is good when it is often possible set for a Euro in the virtual shopping cart and in the rankings soaring. A dedicated decision for the content of the book is, however, not mandatory, but rather a rising marketing strategy that adapts to the click-consumption of Amazon customers, Online Bestsellers generated and staff saves.
opportunity for insolvent publisher – Common Enemy could save the world
What does this mean for the quality of products, you can see at Amazon daily. Of the KDP e-books that are ranked as the Amazon Top 100 together with the E-Books traditional publishers (the former being mostly represented in the best seats), only have few it takes to find an established publisher, chief editor judges Lutz Dursthoff of Kiepenheuer and Malevich, which tracks the ranking lists.
But there are exceptions. The author Annelie Wendeberg for example. After her first book had 10,000 sold time, she found a publisher in KiWi partner in Germany. In the U.S., it continues to work as a so-called “indie author”, ie as a writer who published their work in self-publishing.
Also online is one of “Vitamin B”
Cooperation between the classic publishing and online publishing goes according Dursthoff going just. Is operated intensive research online best sellers in the publishing yet. The stories of Winner and Wendeberg show, however, how successful individual authors can be KDP. However, they also show that at the end is usually a traditional publishing house, for which such economic test, as one can understand KDP, of course, is useful
